Description

Amend Park Garden – plot resizing and walkway project. The Amend Park Community Garden was established in 2014 in an effort to address food insecurity through providing publicly available gardening space on the South Side of Billings. In 2020, the Amend Park Community Gardeners grew 4,450 lbs of produce for their households.  The garden is home to 44 garden plots ranging in size from 10x10 to 20x 20 plots. Gardeners are able to rent a plot for a small fee each year.

Over the years, the plots at the Amend Garden have gradually shifted. Some have gradually become larger, reducing the width of the walkways between plots. One of our goals at the garden is to make sure that we maintain clear and uniform walking paths between the garden plots to ensure our elderly gardeners or gardeners with mobility challenges can navigate the garden safely. We ask your help in re-measuring plots and re-establishing the walking paths to keep the garden safe and accessible for our gardeners. We have also discovered that there is need for additional 10x20 garden plots and would like to expand 3-10x10 plots into the larger 10x20 size.

This project is in partnership with JustServe.org, a website where the volunteer needs of organizations may be posted and volunteers may search for places to serve in the community, providing opportunities to help those in need and enhance the quality of life in the community. JustServe is a service to help link community volunteer needs with volunteers and does not discriminate based on race, religion, gender, ethnicity, or sexual orientation in posting projects or in encouraging volunteers to serve according to our guidelines.
